Notes: I write this not long after my 31st birthday
If I could speak to my 25-year-old self right now, this would probably be the first thing I’d say:
Do your best, keep your hopes up, and lower your expectations.
Do your best implies leaving no room for mediocrity in anything you do. Ensuring you always tried to do anything as hard as possible & give your best effort.
Keep your hopes up because no matter how hard your circumstances are, hope is what keeps us going.
Lower your expectations, especially when they are beyond your control and you’ve already done your part.
I did my best to practice this and now feel more content. Remember this:
Expectations are what kill us; hope is what keeps us alive.
